So, the other day
someone posted a thread on Facebook to rant about something. I took this
opportunity to list several things that irritate me, but decided to keep it
short because, well, I’m sure they weren’t exactly looking for a dissertation.
I could very easily write several pages on the subject. Don’t worry; I’m not
going to put those several pages here. But, being as I’ve been a bit stabby
today, I thought maybe I would expand a little and get some of it out of my
system. I am then going to take a little bit of a vacation from Facebook
because social media, Facebook in particular, is part of the problem. Instead,
I am going to busy myself with doing far more productive things and if there is
time to check in periodically, I will. Now onto the rant…
The person on Facebook
today who irritated me was an ill-informed moron with the same faulty thinking
of Kellyann Conway, who thinks that Medicare takes care of all the needs of the
elderly, including nursing homes; it doesn’t. Medicare doesn’t even necessarily
pay for all of the medications and other medical needs that elderly people
often have. I have elderly parents with Alzheimer’s / Dementia and who are on
several medications that they have to pay out of pocket for. If they were to go
into nursing homes, they would have to sell everything and completely deplete
their property and bank accounts before they would be eligible for any
assistance with the cost of long term care, which would come from Medicaid, not
Medicare. To Kellyann Conway and likeminded idiots: these people cannot just go
out and get jobs.
On the subject of jobs,
many employers only employ their workers part time or on contract so that they
do not have to offer benefits to these employees. A prime example would be
adjunct professors who are part time, contracted employees. They have more education
than the entire Trump administration, and yet cannot get decent wages or
benefits. Other examples of persons who would find it difficult to get coverage
under AHCA, Trumpcare or whatever they’re calling the latest draft of the
deathbill are self-employed persons, including musicians, actors, and small business
enterprises. Additionally, pre-existing conditions would no longer have to be
covered, or would be covered at a much higher premium, including pregnancy,
allergies, mental conditions, and many others.
The dumb stuff that
Trump supporters, Republicans, supporters of the new healthcare bill drafts,
and racists say on Facebook aggravates the hell out of me on a daily basis. I
wish they would learn how to read and critically think well enough to do some
actual research for once.
The constant police
brutality, particularly against anyone not white, that happens all over the
United States every single day saddens, sickens, angers and frightens me. I
look white. In that, I guess I am very fortunate. I shouldn’t feel like I’m
fortunate for looking white. There are people in my life that are not white and
they do not look white and I fear for them. Some of these people I love and
hold very near and dear to my heart and the very thought of anything happening
to them because they’re not white literally brings tears to my eyes. Please
stop hurting innocent people just because they are not white.
Angry white men both
scare and anger me. As a woman, this is something that does involve me. Trump’s
administration has legitimized an already present misogyny by men of all races
and nationalities, but particularly amongst angry white men. Wasn’t your mom a
woman? Do you hate her too? Perhaps you do; and perhaps that’s for a reason. I
get it. But, why hate some random woman you see out in public just because she’s
a woman? What gives you the right to be cruel, rude, crass, aggressive, or
entitled toward her?
I hate entitled people.
I hate people who run
red lights and people who are too busy on their cell phones to pay attention to
their driving. You are killing and injuring people. You are a hazard on the
road. When you cause an accident because you ran a red light or because you are
on your cell phone, you deserve to lose your license forever. Stop it!
Finally, to close off
this long rant so that it doesn’t go into too many pages, I hate Crunch Gym. They
were discriminatory toward a non-white member of my family at the Riverside
location and recently, they decided to charge me next month’s membership dues
plus an extra $35 when I cancelled my membership this month, creating a
financial mess in my bank account which has now been rectified by the quick action
of my bank. Credit unions are the best.
